Maritime Day Celebrated

      The Young Navigators Club and Seamanship and Safety Club in partnersship with the Supreme Student Government organized and commemorated the Maritime Day last October 6 with the theme "Piracy: Orchestrating the Response."

      The day started with a series of talks. Talk 1 was on Piracy: Orchestrating the Response with Capt. Rene Gomez as the speaker. he talked about possible responses for future seafarers when the time comes that their vessels are assaulted by pirates. C/E Edwin Saplada shared his thoughts and experience as a seafarer during Talk 2: Expedition of Life. Talk 3 was about Experience of life at Sea with Capt. Voltaire Lapore as the speaker. A forum followed afterwards. The afternoon affair was apportioned for different competitions and the Search for VMA Top Model of the Year.

       Midn. Richie Mar Tañajura, D3-Aplha was declared 2nd Runner up while MIdn. Carlo Marx Portillo, E2-Aplha was the 1st runner up and was also awarded best in Type B and Type C. Midn. Gerald Duffy Kaibigan, E3-Charlie was proclaimed the VMA Top Model of the year. he also bagged Best in Type A.

      E3-Alpha got the 3rd place, E1-Alpha as 2nd placer and D2-Alpha as champion in the Quiz Bee Contest. For the essay-writing contest, Lloyd Ocquiola was proclaimed as winner while Whimsy King Ibañez and John Kenneth Tumayan got the 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.

       Joviec Chiu bagged the 1st place and Remar Sanchez as 2nd placer in the battle of Knot-Tying. For the Monkey Fist Throwing, Jupiter Ladaga ranked 1st while Dyeth Kelvin Sinahid got the 2nd place.

       2/M Juesna and Vargas were the advisers of the Young Navigators Club while 2/M Destacamento is the adviser for the Seamanship and Safety Club.
