BRIEF HISTORY

As growth and introduction of other courses came, VMA Global College (fomerly Visayan Maritime Academy) offers Information Technology Education in June 2005.

In the year 2005, there was no campus club and organization under ITE department because of few students population. They only have the so called organization that was named after the department, “The ITE Club”. Wherein classroom is the only venue for them to improve their knowledge and skills. Because of the population increase in the year 2006, the department is force to provide the needs of students, the opportunities to develop their abilities and skills through campus clubs and organization. With this, the head of the department had come up to form an organization, the Infotech Society. But in that year it was not yet recognized by the College Administration.

A year after Infotech Society changed it name to Techno Society,and was acknowledge & recognized by the Administration in the year 2008. 2011 is the 3rd year of the Techno Society organization, wherein we are celebrating our ITE day in the month of August, with the coordination of our Techno Society members.

The Administration, the College and the departments believes that every campus clubs and organizations is a great help in encouraging the students to further enhance their knowledge and skills. Not only in the four walls of the classroom, but also even outside school campus.

OVERVIEW

Techno Society Organization was created with the belief that students are the competitive advantage in institution and business world.

With the concept that all students are participating in activities and excels academically, this will imply high level learning and produce competitive graduates, resulting in career and business success.

As global competition continues to increase, it has become clear that institution must improve their performance if they are to survive and prosper in the future. And also, organization practices and alliances have the greatest influence on student’s performance.

The mission of the Techno Society is to prepare our membership for the challenges of a dynamic world by promoting technological literacy, leadership, and problem solving, resulting in personal growth and opportunity. Therefore, it provides supports to each member of the organization through educational advancement, trainings, and seminars.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES:

The organization’s aim is to provide assistance for the ITE program students with a thorough knowledge, skills and camaraderie through organization of activities related to Information Technology Industries.

Develop students to become Information Technology Education professionals by:

  •     Share knowledge and skills needed in the organization in line with the field of specialization.
  •     Demonstrating values and discipline as an IT professional.
  •     Being responsive to the needs of the current trend in management and computer technology in school and off campus activities.
  •     Developing ITE students to become young leaders.
  •     Meeting the expectations of the VMA community and computer industry.
